OBREAL participated in the Annual Conference of the Brazilian Association of International Education (FAUBAI). This is the largest and oldest event in Latin America dedicated to the internationalization of Higher Education. With more than 600 participants from around the world, this year’s 2024 FAUBAI Annual Conference has as its overall theme “Inviting for a new journey” and is being held in São Paulo, Brazil.
OBREAL’s Director of Strategy, Nicolas Patrici, took part in the debate of this conference dedicated to South-South-North Cooperation. He did so alongside Hillgje van’t Land, Secretary General of the International Association of Universities (IAU); Alexadre Brasil, Secretary of Higher Education of the Brazilian Ministry of Education; Olusola Oyewole, Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU); and Denise Carvalho, chair of CAPES.
A debate, therefore, in which the internationalization of Higher Education was addressed from the different points of view of the regions represented at the table. It is precisely this interregional perspective that OBREAL always tries to contribute and promote.We have done so in this debate at the FAUBAI Annual Conference. And we will do so at the Interregional Dialogue that we are organizing for this coming July in Addis Ababa.
Addis Ababa Interregional Dialogue
This Interregional Dialogue is organized by OBREAL together with the African Union Commission, the Brazilian Ministry of Education and the CAPES Foundation. It is also supported by the Association of African Universities and ENLACES. In it, we will address current issues related to education and development in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
An event in which we will be able to deepen this interregional perspective that we always try to promote. The Addis Ababa Interregional Dialogue will thus be another major event for those involved in the internationalization of Higher Education. It will come after CRES+5, the FAUBAI 2024 Conference or the annual International Conference on the Internationalization of Higher Education (IHE) 2024.
