“Global crises require common solutions that have the contribution of all countries and citizens” – Iina Soiri, Education & Science Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland in Pretoria

During the 2nd Interregional Dialogue on Education and Development in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean we had the pleasure of interviewing Iina Soiri, Education and Science Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland in Pretoria. Soiri stated that events such as that dialogue are of great importance since they contribute to networking and raising awareness of how we can best continue to work together.

She explained the importance of Science and Higher Education for the Finnish government and their belief that these fields are fundamentally international. In this line of thought, she expressed the importance of building partnerships that are mutually beneficial. In the end, she says, “global crises require the contribution of all countries and citizens for a common solution”.
