The African Union Commissioner for Education Highlights Obreal’s Crucial Role in Facilitating Triangular Cooperation

Obreal Interviews Mohammed Belhocine, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the African Union Commission, who visited Obreal’s headquarters in Barcelona last January. A visit that served both to strengthen the relationship with Obreal and generate synergies and cooperation pathways with catalan institutions and government representatives.

Commissioner Belhocine highlights the fruitful relationship established over the past two years between Obreal and the African Union Commission and emphasizes the importance of institutionalizing this partnership for long-term sustainability and continuity. Potential areas of collaboration, according to him, include strengthening the Pan-African University through teacher exchanges and mobility schemes, focusing on crucial fields like artificial intelligence and multilingual approaches. In this regard, Belhocine, describes Obreal as a “good implementer,” a “good broker,” and a “good guide” for both sides.

Commissioner Belhocine expresses enthusiasm for the upcoming Interregional Dialogue in Colombia in 2025. He underscores the value of triangular cooperation between Africa, Latin America, and the European Union, fostering an equitable dialogue based on mutual respect and benefit.
