OBREAL is glad to contribute to empowering African Universities by leading a key Interregional Dialogue at the QS Africa Summit. More specifically, OBREAL’s Senior Coordinator Higher Education Policy, Marina Larrea, moderated the panel discussion titled “Interregional Dialogue in Higher Education to enhance the role of Universities as Agents of Innovation, Integration and Sustainable Development”.

This effort aligns with OBREAL’s Interregional Policy Dialogue Action Pillar. To facilitate meaningful discussions on pressing global challenges and shared interests is, actually, a core of our mission.

Empowering African Universities and its Youth

The QS Africa Summit aims to empower Africa’s Youth by “integrating entrepreneurship, future skills, and AI/technology in education for a sustainable future”. The idea is that only through education can Africa unlock the potential of its people, harness the power of technology, and build a foundation for lasting prosperity.

OBREAL is commited to working with Africa to empower its universities and generate dialogues that promote cooperation and development. In fact, OBREAL’s 2nd Interregional Dialogue on Higher Education and Development was hosted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Next up: America’s QS Summit

After the Africa’s QS Summit, OBREAL will join global leaders in the America’s QS Summit. In this edition – that will take place in between 3-4 October in Mexico City – participants will explore how universities can navigate the growing challenges of our time, including mental health, pedagogical innovation, and environmental sustainability.

The summit will focus on how higher education can adapt to rapid changes like AI integration and economic uncertainty, while preparing students for the future of work.
