The General Assembly of OBREAL Global was held on Friday 9 April 2021.
We were honoured to welcome the following institutions to OBREAL Global:
– University College Cork (Ireland)
– Universidade Federal ABC (Brazil)
– Universidade Federal de Goias (Brazil)
– Associação Brasileira de Educação Internacional -FAUBAI- (Brazil)
The General Assembly began with welcoming remarks by Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, chair of the India Chapter of OBREAL Global and Dr. Kiran G.R., vice-president of OBREAL Global.
Dr. Ramon Torrent led this assembly in which all the proposed agreements were approved, such as the creation of an advisory council or the approval of the positions of president (Ramon Torrent) and vice-president (Dr. Kiran G.R) and the members, Elizabeth Colucci and Nicolas Patrici.
In addition, the presidencies of the OBREAL Global Chapters were ratified.
Once these agreements were reached, Nicolás Patrici presented all the progress made since the previous general assembly held at the end of the previous year
The results of OBREAL Global in Focus 2021, the first series of online activities representative of all the initiatives and projects in which OBREAL Global is involved, were then presented.
Elizabeth Colucci, Director of International Projects at OBREAL Global made an overview of all these projects and initiatives and presented them one by one to all OBREAL Global members.
Then, the presidents of the African, Caribbean, Indian, South and Central American Chapters were given the floor to present the objectives of each of the chapters.
The Assembly concluded with a speech by Ramon Torrent on trends on the future of the internationalisation of higher education.
Once again, the OBREAL Global General Assembly has demonstrated that we are a truly global association with the capacity to connect institutions, researchers and other actors related to higher education to further develop South-South-North cooperation.
