As the European Commission prepares its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034, Obreal, together with its partners from the Forum on Cooperation for Sustainable Development in Higher Education Group (S-DHG), has co-developed a joint position paper. The document highlights the strategic importance of higher education and research within the EU’s global development and international partnership agenda, particularly in the context of the Global Gateway Strategy.
Signed by 13 international organisations, the paper underscores the crucial role that academic cooperation plays in driving innovation, producing world-class knowledge, and fostering sustainable development. Obreal and its partners call for strong and sustained EU investment in international cooperation to scale up efforts and strengthen the EU’s strategic influence in an increasingly complex global landscape.
The position paper was co-developed and co-signed by: AASU, ACU, British Council, DAAD, Danida Fellowship Centre, EDUFI, ERASuD, HK-dir, OBREAL, OeAD, The Guild, UNIMED and VLIRUOS.
