Harmonisation of African Higher Education, Quality Assurance and Accreditation (HAQAA) is an initiative that has been established to support the development of a harmonised quality assurance and accreditation system at institutional, national, regional and Pan-African continental level. It is funded by the European Union Commission, in the context of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership. Phase one (HAQAA1) was implemented from 2016-2018. HAQAA 2 (2019 – 2022) is intended to build upon, upscale and promote the results of HAQAA1
More InformationInspired by the European Union funded network of ‘Higher Education Reform Experts’ (HERE) in European neighborhood countries, HERE SA would like to launch and sustain a similar network at the national level in SA, which could be eventually extended to all HEI in the sector. The network would be comprised of individuals that were strategically selected given their roles in overseeing and guiding teaching and learning at their institutions, and potential to be catalysts for change in the HE sector. The HERE SA project would train and capacitate these individuals to enable them to advise their institutions and the sector on holistic higher education development to meet labour market and societal needs..
More InformationThe objective of the PRICNAC project, which has financial support from the ACP Innovation Fund, is to strengthen research and innovation capacities in Central African countries through the consolidation of innovation ecosystems, productive synergies, entrepreneurship, digital and innovation policies for sustainable development and poverty reduction.
PRICNAC will also aim at promoting synergies between the different EU policies and programmes that target the countries concerned and align to the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership and its investments in higher education, research, innovation and digitalization.
More InformationNEPREV is a capacity building project in higher education co-funded by the Education, Culture and Audiovisual Executive Agency (EACEA) from the European Union under the Erasmus + KA2.
The Project aims to setting up a multidisciplinary joint master program open to Tunisian, European, and African participants and dedicated to the Next Production Revolution: confluence of digital technologies (e.g. 3D printing, the Internet of Things, advanced robotics) new materials (e.g. bio- or nano-based), new processes (e.g. data-driven production, artificial intelligence).
NEPREV project is expected to help to reinforce the role of Tunisian universities in connecting with their socioeconomic environment and bridge the gap between academic research and industry
More InformationAGREEMed “Innovative Aquifers Governance for Resilient Water Management and Sustainable Ecosystems in Stressed Mediterranean Agricultural Areas” is an R&I project co-funded under the PRIMA programme section II, for a period of 3 years starting from June 2022. The project is composed of a multidisciplinary team of ten partners from 7 countries Morocco ((UM6P, UIZ), Spain (OBREAL-Global), Germany (TUB, DELTA), France (IAMM, SEMIDE), Tunisia (CERTE), Jordan (GJU) and Italy (IRIDRA) . AGREEMED aims to improve the capacities of #water actors in developing integrated #aquifer management plans and demonstrating such development in strategic pilot areas (watersheds) in the Mediterranean region: Souss-Massa in Morocco, Hammamet in Tunisia, and Jordan Valley in Jordan.

More InformationEquam-La aims at advancing the Latin American Higher Education Space in areas such as recognition of degrees and credits across borders by reinforcing and connecting quality assurance systems for higher education, in which universities and QA agencies are key partners and drivers
Equam-La hence proposes to support universities and national agencies to work together to improve and reinforce internal QA management and processes and link them to specific areas, like recognition, so as to underpin regional integration.

HICA involved universities, national university associations, ministries and Central American regional bodies, as well as several European institutions, including University College Cork, HICA promoted a dynamic partnership for higher education reform, harmonization and quality enhanced. It was developed upon a previous EU initiative to foster a qualifications framework for the Central American region, based on European good practice, and also supports Central American universities to implement learning outcomes based approaches in their curricula
More InformationUniversities Linking Initiatives and Synergies in Europe and South America, “ULISES” Project (2013-2015) contributed to the development of the Common Area of Higher Education ALCUE and promoted the active participation of EU and LAC Higher Education Institutions as well as academic staff, policy makers, decision makers, managers and administrators. Its multiplying effect benefited other stakeholders such as Higher education inspectors EU and LAC HE Advisors and Counsellors and the Research and Industry community in both regions as well.

Led by European and Latin American university associations, it aims to improve modernisation mechanisms, reform and harmonisation of Latin American education systems, and promote large-scale collaboration between European and Latin American universities. More InformationCoordinated by the University of Barcelona with the indian coordination of the NAAC, the project aims at coordinating efforts in developing an understanding of the concepts and introducing a culture of benchmarking in India as a mean of encouraging institutional reform and as a tool for measuring how effectively universities are governed. The aim is to set a cluster of quantitative and qualitative indicators as a means of identifying targets for achievement to benchmark progress aim at improving the quality management and hence quality of education, research, innovation, and internationalisation in Indian universities in general and comparing best practices with European Universities.
More InformationMIELES supported a network of Indian and European HEI to develop and implement institutional strategies for elearning that came out as a multiplier effect of previous Eramus + project. Many development cooperation interventions are related directly to ICT infrastructure (Digital India, for example) or to the provision of online course content. Few projects have addressed the need to support HEI to utilise ICT infrastructure and online course content, and to enable leadership and staff to do so, in a cross-institutional way (one of the purpose of strategies). Working on this issue in an international consortium of partners, in the context of Erasmus+ (that was at the time coordinated by the UB), helped in shaping quality standards for Indian online course content and elearning approaches, innovate teaching and learning practices/pedagogy via e-learning and build capacity of teachers across partner institutions to use elearning and ICT tools. MIELES was designed to provide a collaborative platform to address a relevant issue for the development, reform, democratization and modernization of the higher education system in India and to reinforce Indian-EU higher education collaboration
More InformationSTART CIRCULAR aims at merging two key topics in Europe: Preparing entrepreneurial graduates to work for and develop sustainable businesses and reinforcing university-SME collaboration in teaching, learning and training to this effect. To create green jobs, therefore Europe has to invest in a regenerative approach which contrasts with the traditional linear economy.
More InformationThe SUCCESS project aims to connect universities and industry by improving the educational system in the direction of entrepreneurship, creating new job opportunities and better exchanging of practical knowledge from industry to educational institutions in order to ultimately reduce the youth unemployment rate and stop the trend of active labor force departing from our country. The first coordination meeting of this project was held on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
The project involves 16 partner universities, chambers of commerce, companies, and development agencies from countries in the region and Europe.

The main objectives of ONLINEHE are to develop the capacity of HE faculty, academics, learning designers and teaching staff in the integration of eLearning in course design and teaching of courses. To develop innovative quality resources for HE faculty members to support the adoption of eLearning in higher education. Raise awareness of the need and value of integrating eLearning in HE in close collaboration with all stakeholders, including policy makers. Improve the provision of quality higher education opportunities.
More InformationThe project creates a unique consortium that brings together universities from diverse and mostly non-urban regions in South America, Georgia, Europe and South Africa and allows these universities to map and compare their contribution, via teaching and research, to local development and local economies.
It embeds the development of joint study programmes in a specific discipline – viticulture (of relevance to all partners) – into wider staff training exercises, so as to foster deeper ‘North-South-emerging country’ strategic partnerships in higher education. It responds equally to Europe policy priorities for higher education internationalisation and regional development, as it does to partner country priorities for internationalizing and modernizing study programmes and generating local impact and local development.
More InformationThe global context of the EU-CELAC partnership has evolved and there is a need to critically review the bi-regional cooperation to detect bright spots, successful initiatives and new emerging issues of importance in both regions.
There is a need to connect cooperation in the cultural, scientific and social fields, improving cross-cutting interaction and visibility with an emphasis on distinctive initiatives for the direct benefit of civil society.
The activities carried out by the project are:
To analyse the role of social and political actors in promoting cultural and scientific exchange, and social collaboration at the EU-CELAC biregional and bilateral levels.
Proposing a set of high impact actions and initiatives to strengthen the cooperation.
Addressing beneficiaries in both regions through dissemination of the research results, open source publications and conferences, and building partnerships for upscaled pilot initiatives.
