The Organisation Committee of the Second Interregional Dialogue on Education and Development in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean sets the roadmap for the coming months
OBREAL hosted in Barcelona a meeting of the Organisation Committee of the “Second Interregional Dialogue on Education and Development in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Shared solutions for common challenges in the context of the African Year of Education 2024” that resulted in a drafted agenda for the event, a concept note, and a roadmap for the next months.
A roadmap that will lead to the Second interregional dialogue that will take place in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) from the 22nd to the 25th of July and will be hosted by the AUC at their headquarters.
Online seminars and a masterclass before the Interregional Dialogue
The committee decided that they will organise online seminars in the coming months that will include training components in priority issues such as food security, engaged university models and SDGs, and teacher training for African, Latin American and Caribbean postgraduate students, professionals and Higher Education Institutions leadership.
These academic activities will conclude with an on-site masterclass that will take place the 22nd of July.

The President and the Directors of OBREAL had the pleasure of welcoming to Barcelona the top management of some of the most important organisations in Africa and Latin America.
Amongst them, Olusola Oyewole, Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU); Sophia Ashipala, the Head of Education at the African Union Comission (AUC); Emmanuel Chigozie Okonkwo, Project Officer at the AUC; Rui Oppermann, Director for International Relations at the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education personnel (CAPES) representing the Ministry of Education of the Federative Republic of Brazil; Elizabeth Bernal, Secretary General of the Latin American and the Caribbean higher education space (ENLACES); Celso Freire, President of FAUBAI from Brazil; and Valeria Pattacini, representing the president of the National Inter-University Council of Argentina.
