The Vita Global White Paper: Modularisation, flexibilisation and internationalisation in Higher Education

Vita Global has focused on three levels: 1) internationalizing the curricula in a strategic subsector for all of the partner regions involved: vitiviniculture and enology, 2) contributing to the modularization and flexibilization of curricula, and 3) sharpening the university contribution to local development, university-industry cooperation, and training and skilling.

HAQAA Training Course on a Common Language for Quality Assurance in Africa

Between October 2016 and June 2017, the HAQAA Initiative organised a continental level Training Course entitled ‘Developing a common understanding for QA in Africa’. The Course, which gathered nationally nominated professionals representing quality assurance (QA) bodies across 41 African countries, reinforced the goals of the HAQAA Initiative, namely to support the development of a harmonised quality assurance and accreditation system at institutional, national, regional and Pan-African continental level.

Quality assurance of higher education is a policy priority in most African nations. As universities are increasingly seen as drivers for further economic and social development throughout the continent, the concern for quality of provision of teaching, research and societal engagement is gaining more focus. At the same time, universities are challenged by ever more diversified and larger student body and by demands to operate in an increasingly international context. In such circumstances, a guiding document that will foster a common understanding of quality assurance across different national contexts is essential.

University Associations in Latin America – A snapshot
