Third Interregional Dialogue
The Third Interregional Dialogue on Education and Development — co-organized by the Government of Colombia (in its capacity as the pro tempore presidency of CELAC), the African Union, Obreal, the Colombian Association of Universities (ASCUN), and the Association of African Universities (AAU) — built on the achievements of previous editions to advance joint action in the fields of education, science, and sustainable development. Its goal was to generate innovative responses to the most pressing global challenges shared by Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
The Dialogue brought together more than 400 participants from over 50 regions at EAN University in Bogotá, Colombia, including high-level representatives from governments, universities, and civil society organizations. Distinguished guests included the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez; the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Selma Malika Haddadi, who participated online; Colombia’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Yesenia Olaya; and the African Union’s Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Gaspard Banyankimbona.
