Call for applications now open for the 2026 Julio Cotler Program

Obreal has officially launched the 2026 edition of the Julio Cotler Program at an event held at the Office of the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia in the Southern Cone, in Buenos Aires. The debate and networking event featured the participation of Josep Vives, Delegate of the Government of Catalonia to the Southern Cone; Rafael Lozano Miralles, President of the Alma Mater Foundation – Studorium – University of Bologna; Carlos Greco, Rector of the National University of San Martín, and representatives of the Embassies of Spain and Ireland in Argentina.

The event included a reflection on democracy, education, and citizenship in Latin America and Europe, with the participation of Juana Stratta, one of the winners of the 2025 Julio Cotler edition. Indeed, beyond individual recognition, the Julio Cotler Program is committed to strengthening a network for intellectual exchange by fostering connections, collaboration, and community among participants. The initiative aims to serve as a platform for emerging voices in Latin America and the Caribbean.

2026 Edition

With the official launch of this new edition, we invite all interested applicants to submit an abstract of no more than 400 words outlining their central idea or thesis on Education, Social Inequality, and Strengthening Democracy by May 16, 2026.

A committee of experts will select between 15 and 20 abstracts. Selected authors will be invited to develop a full paper of approximately 8,000 words, which will be discussed at a program workshop/conference. The three most outstanding papers will receive special recognition, a €2,000 scholarship each, and will be published in open access.
